Election time is nearing and cities are expressing their interest in being hosts for the 2016 Democratic National Convention. There are a quite a few cities on the radar which are currently being vetted but there are a number of factors that go into the final selection, including venue space, money that will be spent getting the venue and city ready, hotel rooms and spacing, security and other factors.
It’s not an easy process. There were 33 cities who were sent invitation letters by the Democratic National Convention, but these are the ones that have expressed interest in hosting. Here is the current listing of cities vying for the top spot:
Although Philadelphia’s mayor has sent a letter throwing their hat in the ring and city councilman Jim Kenney introduced a resolution, this doesn’t seem like a good place for the convention. The resolution was submitted because the current Administration “does not plan to convey interest in recruiting this massive economic boost to Philadelphia.”
